I first saw Jennifer Lin on Oprah in April of 2006 when she was 16 years old. Not only is she an amazingly talented pianist, she is an equally incredible composer. I was blown away – and get taken away every time I see it – by her improvisational compositions.
I call it divine inspiration and being in the flow. No rehearsals, no polish, no do-overs.

A friend put me on to a project being sponsored by Google – Project 10^100 (ten to the hundredth). The idea is to gather ideas for people helping people and select 5 to provide $10 million of funding – simple math puts makes that $2 million per project, give or take. I learned a whole lot about myself yesterday in the most unexpected place – the local skating rink! A friend invited us to watch her daughter figure skate in a weekend fun meet. I thought it would be a great way to take some time off and possibly see an up and coming star or two. Little did I know these young girls and teens had so much to teach me. continue →

I am intrigued watching Remembrance Day related programs and ceremonies. They all have this sense of deep reverence about them I seldom see anywhere else. People of all ages and walks of life come together and re-member as one once again.
I personally don’t find these events as overly sad occasions. Instead I seem to connect with a deep sense of inner peace. Possibly this is the way for those who died fighting to re-mind us of Who We Really Are. Deep down inside we humans are capable of peace, or perhaps we are truly peaceful beings at our core. continue →
