What about shame? That’s the other topic that is popping up all over.
What about shame? You know the answer as well as I.
A lesser thought about yourself that is untrue.
Well, what if you did something you weren’t proud of.
Change it.
Change you.
Make a different decision about yourself and who you are.
To hold onto what was is of no good to you. Holding on keeps you stuck in who you were and leaves no room for who you are and will be.
You simply crowd yourself out.
Learn from your mistakes. Is that not what you tell others?
Yes, but …
No buts.
You give to others what you cannot give to yourself.
A break.
Which is an opening to be anew.
You have to hold on while others don’t.
How insane is that?
You can not like what you did. But that’s all it was – something you did.
Now step back and look at who did it.
Your feelings of shame come from knowing that person was not you.
That is and was not who you are – except in that moment.
That moment is gone.
What matters is now. Who do you decide to be now?
Give that other you a break – let go of the energy you hold onto.
You are the one keeping that person alive and reliving it all over and over again.
You could not feel shame if you were not different now from who you were then – even in a fleeting moment.
Listen to yourself.
Acknowledge what was going on at the time (if you can) and decide again.
There is no need to muddy the waters of who you were then with who you are now and will be.
And worse yet is to feel shame for others and take that on as your own.
No one can take that on but you.
Listen yes. Use it to decide who you are and are not.
Move on.
Shame serves nothing but to bring your past into your future. You close down your own right to decide again and again.
Shame is about who you were.
You decide who you will be and move on.
You do not need to carry shame with you to remind you.
That is only a disguise to keep being who you were.
Move on.
Be you.
Accept nothing less.
