Dealing Cards

MAP

How can I decide what I am being?  I am what I am.  These are the cards I’ve been dealt.

My, aren’t we fatalist today.  What’s up?

You know very well.  I’m trying to think about all that you’ve said from another’s view.

You’re doing very well at it.  So you think you’ve been dealt a hand and now you’re stuck with it.

Let’s go with that.

Most card games that I know of have a change out of cards all the time.  The hand you are dealt is not the hand you end with.

You make decisions all the time as to what cards you are going to keep, throw away and which pile to pick from.

Sometimes you play a game where you can pick up all the discards or select from another player’s hand.

And often times you just decide to start all over and head off in a whole new direction.

All those decisions of what card to play happened before you actually played them.  Playing those cards are an expression of what decisions you made.

And you certainly didn’t decide what hand you were going to have [before the cards were dealt], do your card selections based on what you wanted and be satisfied with the outcome.

You can’t play cards backwards.

You play cards forwards, moving with the cards as you were dealt and changing with the flow of what comes up.

By that analogy we never create our outcomes, we’re always reacting.

If you want to look at it that way.

You could also take a higher level view that you go into each game with a strategy of sorts, or you develop one along the way that becomes much clearer.

In this case you have an intention rather than a specific goal.  (Your friends are smiling now.)

When you play cards you are open to what comes up.  You are able to see different opportunities of ending with the same result.

If you want an analogy it would be your intention, the thing you want to create, is a winning hand.

You are not looking for a hand with specific cards.  That would be more of a goal.

And that can take a very long time to have the cards dealt exactly as you want them to appear.  It is possible, just prolonged.

Look to the level at which you want to create.  How specific are you trying to be, and do you need to be that specific.

And specificity at a low level is much different than specificity at a high level.

This is something you must get used to as you grow.

You have come to realize the playing field is not level.

Now you must realize there is not just one level.

The playing field is not level because it is multi-level.  Like your 3D games of chess or Battleship.

You have a much richer field to play on, and play with.
