Oh what tangled webs we weave.
They are called networks. Everything is connected.
Tangled, yes, but simple too. All based on your perspective.
I don’t think that’s what the saying meant.
What do you think it means then?
We create our own problems, get in the way of ourselves, make things more difficult than they need to be.
Does anything need to be difficult?
Some people seem to think so. A whole bunch of people believe nothing is worth anything unless it was really hard to get, unless you had to struggle for it.
Yes, many do believe that.
Why is that?
You tell me. I am quite comfortable with the complexity and simplicity of life. I don’t need to create anything more than what is here.
That in itself is more than enough.
Look around you. And above. And below.
Do you think all that is growing on needs even more stuff to overcome?
No. The processes seem to carry on quite nicely even though they are quite intricate.
You seem to have confused complexity or intricacy with difficulty.
You are aware of the rhythms and processes and dances that go on every microsecond. And yet they are not difficult processes.
They happen time in and time out, morphing and evolving as it goes.
The energy and effort it takes is whatever energy and effort it takes.
Adding extra energy that you call difficulty just gets in the way. You don’t need to get in the way – there is enough going on already.
Match your efforts to what is present – but don’t assume that all intense work is difficult and all ease is simple.
That which you are not good at becomes easy over time. You work so hard to achieve that state and then tell yourself it’s not good enough anymore because where’s the struggle.
So you create some more.
That is a crazy world to live in.
I tell you that is not my world and it does not have to be yours.
Find your path by following the ease. Move in and out without engaging in struggle.
That does not mean you do not have to work – sometimes you will work very hard and see little results.
But that is an issue of time you perceive to be something more than it really is.
Take a really good look at all the ways you get in front of yourself and create more than there really is.
Take a good look at your thoughts and see what is truly there – or not.
