How did groups become clans then communities, cities, nations, etc?
I wasn’t quite that linear. But I understand your point.
You are asking about shifting to the next larger whole.
Yes. How do we give ourselves that next larger space?
Necessity is one route. Curiosity and adventure is another. Power is a third.
What do you mean?
Your safety and survival is a strong determiner of how you see the world.
Your desire to survive will rule almost anything acceptable that you once saw as bad or different.
You can change your mind on a dime if it means you will ensure your existence for another day.
Having resources puts you in one position, and needing resources – whether it be food, shelter, water, protection – puts you in another position.
You like to be one up on the other guy. You like to wield what you perceive to be your power over another.
Yet you do not like to have power wielded over you.
So you tend to get while the getting is good.
But all of that can change in one swift moment when you suddenly find yourself at the mercy of another.
And that you do not like but easily convince yourself otherwise so you can now get what you no longer have.
You need to give up this idea of “me or him”, “us or them” in the way you have interpreted it so far in your history.
Your natural drive to come together must still be placed in the context of kill-or-be-killed.
I tell you – you no longer need this mentality.
Change your box within which you see your attraction for each other.
Life is not a competition.
Life is a cooperation.
This is how you survived. This is how you come together, what drives you to come together.
Yet your kill-or-be-killed mentality stops you and slows you down.
You know you can achieve greater things as you work with each other but you cannot help yourself in labelling this thing mine and this thing yours.
At some point through each stage of your coming together you realized the benefit of ours.
And that benefit far outweighed anything you could justify as keeping solely your own.
Even today you protect your yards and spaces as if they belonged to no one else.
There is much struggle in this you would do well to let go.
Your curiosity and desire to explore the new will also bring you together.
You have many such examples where your desire to know and see more has overcome any desire to go it alone.
In fact, you know you cannot achieve what you have done all by yourself – whether that is one individual or one nation.
You know there is much benefit in travelling this journey with others and not alone.
There will come a day when you see the benefit of the next larger whole and “them” will disappear.
You need to move forward or your need to survive will surpass any notion, any nation, of going it alone.
Look for this because it is there to see. Open your eyes to what is right before you.
And then share this with all others.
For the more that see the good in it outweighs the belief of bad, the faster you will move into the space of the larger whole in which to grow.
