Never Simple Pleasures

Put a little joy in your heart.

That is so simple, isn’t it.  Yet so difficult you find to do.

Why is that?

The pressures of everyday life – just surviving and getting through.

Who has time for joy and the simple pleasures of life? 

You do.

All of you.



Joy isn’t a simple pleasure.  It is the power within you.

It is the basis of life, life itself.

What you call love is also joy.

What you call freedom is also joy.

What you call passion is also joy.

What you call you is also joy.

What you call God is also joy.



They are all the same.  They are all one another.

What they are not are simple pleasures.

They are all expressions of life you have labelled as different experiences.

But they are they same.



You cannot be without joy for that would be like saying you are without you, or the stars or the moon in the sky.

There are times when you do not see them but that does not mean they are not there.

And you have found different ways to see them even when the sun fills the sky.

So too is this true for the times when you do not see joy or freedom or passion or you feel lost.

You are still there but cannot see with the way you are currently looking.



What have you done to hide from yourself?

Your job, your family, your tools of play?

What about money – one of your biggest curtains of all.

Do not put joy outside yourself by hiding it in money, or anything else.  To do so is to play a game you may never win but can take pride in the struggle.

Do not put joy in time for you will think you never have enough.

And do not think that joy will come to you through some other person, or you may find yourself always wanting to be alone.



See all the ways you push who you are away?

This is a tiresome game you play.  A game of which you are growing very tired.

Put some cracks in your armour and let your sun shine through.

Allow yourself to feel the joy you are – guilt free.

Grow this feeling to wear away the curtains as water wears away the canyon.



You cannot hide joy forever no matter how much you push it at bay.  You cannot keep joy from yourself – it is what you need to survive.

And when your survival is at stake, you will do whatever it takes.
