Dimmed Yourself Down

Go into this day with the bravest of hearts.  Shy away no more.  You are who you are.

I will repeat this too as often as needed for you to truly understand and embrace this truth.

You are special.  You are unique.  Just like everybody else.

Your sameness is your uniqueness. 

Do not shy away from your brilliance in this world.  You light up this place with your smile.  You light up this place by your heart and your eyes and your face.

You are as bright as bright can be.

Accept this.

You have the power to change the world.

Yet you pull a lampshade over you – all of you.  The lampshade you see as a party joke and make fun of how silly it is to wear one – yet you do this all the time.  So much so you don’t even see it anymore.

You do what you do to dim your light so others can’t see how bright you really are.

And yet they do the same for you.  You have all dimmed yourself down.

Be who you are.  Shine your light.  Know you are special.

And everyone else is special too.  See that in them.

You are special.  You are all perfect.  No one is left out.

Use your gift to brighten the world.  Unwrap your paper and bows so you can see what is inside.

When you are all unwrapped, out in the open for all to see, then you can begin to change this world, your world, on a much larger scale.

When you are all special there is no more special than anyone else.

You do not have to be different from others to see your gifts, to have them come forth.

What a party there would be if you all brought your gifts into one room, into one space.

You are so afraid to be the same, to lose yourself and yet you are just as afraid to be different.

Back and forth you go – never happy where you are – bouncing between your desire to be free and to be a part.

You are both.  Always both.  You are the same and different – it all depends on how you look.

Change your perspective to see this at any moment and give up your struggle.

You are all the same and uniquely gifted.

Let that shine through instead of the struggle.

You are always a part and apart in the same instant.
