Brain Break

MAP

Are you having problems today concentrating?

I didn’t think I had to concentrate to do this.  My mind, however, is a bit of a blank.  It doesn’t want to think.

That is a very good place to be.  Give your mind a rest.  It deserves a break every now and then.  It is a workhorse, doesn’t complain, does what you ask of it and keeps going despite everything.

That paints a rather bleak picture.

Have you ever thought of using your mind for something else?

Like what?

As a resting place or a repository.

What does that mean?

You are a little afraid to listen.  You might come up with a blank, silent space.  That would give your mind a break now wouldn’t it?

Why does everything have to be filled?

You do not like to be idle, you do not like to meditate or quiet your brain, you do not like the unknown.  You are so busy grasping onto something you never have time or space to just be yourself.

Silence is golden because there is so little of it.  It is a rare commodity yet unlimited.  It is a renewable resource.

Have you ever considered the quiet, the calm, the blank space, the unknown, [the] idleness to be a resource for you to use?  A resource you cannot run out of?

You dream of peace and quiet and yet it is at your disposal and you push it away.  You make yourself busy because there is importance attached to busy in your mind.

Peace and quiet is a reward, a break, an unattainable thing in some cases.  Know this is not true.

Peace is part of who you are – a way of being.  Peace is not an activity or a doing.  You cannot do peace.

You can be peaceful – full of peace.  That is when you let your true self come through.  You use busy as a way to avoid peace – to avoid you.

Do you find that a bit insane – to always avoid yourself yet there you are around the next corner.  Stop running and hiding.  That is no life to live to always be on the lam.

Run as hard and as fast away from yourself as you can.  One day you will just run out – you won’t be able to run any further.  You will be caught.  You will catch yourself – catch up with yourself.

And I will be there always to catch you when you fall.  We cannot not be there when you fall.

Stop running.  Stop hiding.  Stop denying who you really are.

Take a break.  Get to know yourself again – and it may feel like it’s the first time.

Be quiet – give your brain a break so you can get to know who you are.  Let yourself come forward and introduce yourself to you.  Enjoy these meetings with you.
