What Do You Need?

Ever feel the world has reached another level of crazy you thought not possible?  At times that seems like a daily occurrence.

But then something like CNN Heroes – Ordinary People Changing the World crosses your path and you know there is much hope for bright future.

And we are it.

The secret to our most limiting questions is found within each of their stories – from both 2008 and 2009.

Who am I to make a difference?

I am nobody special.

How do I start?

Take a step – any step and go forward from there.

They simply asked – what do you need?

No difference exists between a hero to one and a hero to many – except in our mind.  In our heart and the hearts of others, a hero to another or thousands is One in the same.

Feel the truth in Efren Peñaflorida’s words of wisdom in his acceptance of CNN’s Hero of the Year – 2009:

“Our planet is filled with heroes, young and old, rich and poor, man, woman of different colors, shapes and sizes. We are one great tapestry. Each person has a hidden hero within, you just have to look inside you and search it in your heart, and be the hero to the next one in need.

So to each and every person inside this theater and for those who are watching at home, the hero in you is waiting to be unleashed. Serve, serve well, serve others above yourself and be happy to serve. As I always tell to my co-volunteers … you are the change that you dream, as I am the change that I dream, and collectively we are the change that this world needs to be.”
