Standing At A Crossroads

Each day the obvious becomes even more blatant.  We are standing at a crossroads of conflicting interests.

The first path takes us down the road of consuming goods and spending our way out of these economic troubles through growth.  The second road is the path of sustainability and simplicity reducing our environmental footprint.

But do we have to make this choice?  Is there a new trail to be blazed down the middle?

A third path down the middle reveals itself when seeing through new eyes with two key characteristics:

  1. Measure personal, economic and environmental health in terms of value instead of product
  2. Consume experiences in place of material goods (and even some services!)

Our desire for continual growth and consumption is sustainable only through that which is unlimited.  With the combination of value and experiences the possibilities are endless.

Sustainability is inherent in perceiving value and simplicity becomes a choice rather than a necessity.

I say “Keep On!” to you already traveling this third path of abundance.  The more who see and follow the quicker the blazed trail turns into the well traveled road.
