The Future Is Here

A light bulb went off last week.  The vision I hold for the future of the planet is already underway – well, at least parts of it – and has been gaining a foothold for more than a decade.  I just wasn’t looking in the right places to see the evidence.

Surprisingly, the roots of a new vision for humanity is found in increasingly cheaper computing power and the introductions of the internet and Google.  Who da thunk.

These roots have laid the groundwork for a shift away from a mindset of scarcity, sameness and secrecy towards a new worldview of abundance, diversity and openness.  This in turn forces us to shift our relationships with one another.

Control flourishes in scarcity but  can’t survive in abundance, leaving organization, collaboration and innovation in its place.

One can’t help but think what we are seeing now – the failure of so many scarcity and control based systems around the world, all at the same time – is the lid closing an outdated view of reality.

There hasn’t been much of a fight put up yet … the final blows to scarcity thinking may closer than we realize.
