Simple Complexity

After reading this solution to the numerous problems we are facing around the world, I realized somewhere along the way complexity became confused with complicated and gained a bad rap.

I’ll grant you that most complicated issues and processes become complex but that does not mean complex issues or processes need to be complicated.

Take breathing for example … so simple to do (gratefully for most of us) we forget we’re breathing at all.  This simplicity doesn’t diminish the complexity of the process.

We’ve convinced ourselves to shy away from complexity because it’s too difficult to manage.  We leave the drudge work of making sense for somebody else.  As a consequence we miss out on the richness and wonder of all that is contained within.

We also miss out on the opportunity to discover a new expanded perspective of how simple some things really are … and it was right there in front of us all along.
