Nowhere To Be Found

Finding joy and timelessness in nowhere.

I must be getting old.  Or wise.  Or both.  Starting in on our renovation projects over the past couple of months I feel like I've really started to "get it".

The biggest difference between these reno projects and those in our last house is me.  I find myself being totally in the moment - and truly understanding the experience of being in the moment.  I'm not in a rush anymore to get things done (for the most part!) and I'm not thinking ahead to the next project.  I feel like I'm truly here, now.

When I am nowhere (now-here) I love to step outside myself and observe what is happening - how I feel, what I'm thinking and so on.  The sense of sheer joy and peace is very strong and present each time I do this.  I can't help but smile for myself.

The lack of time is also very noticeable.  Some projects seem to fly by effortlessly yet hours have passed.  (Then I ruin the moment by wondering why I don't get more accomplished.)  Other times I seem to putter away at something for hours only to be surprised at how little time has really passed.  Bonus time!

I've been trying to experience more of being nowhere in all aspects of my life.  (This brings a whole new meaning to the saying "having presence of mind".)  My biggest challenge comes from meshing with other people's schedules and just remembering to be nowhere instead of somewhere.

Do you connect with this?  What wisdom do you want to add? What questions come to mind?  How do you see it differently?
